You Can Now Source Your Marine Fasteners And Fixings From Leyton Fasteners

As you might well have noticed, Leyton Fasteners have recently made a foray into the marine fasteners and fixings market. After many years of supplying the industrial sector and other specialist niches, it might come as somewhat as a surprise.

However, we actually have a great deal of expertise in the maritime sector, as we shall explain shortly. Given this expansion of our fastener portfolio, we thought we would take the time to explain why we’ve chosen now to start supplying these fasteners, provide you with information surrounding the specific fasteners we stock, and let you know how you can get your hands on them.

Why Now For Marine Fasteners and Fixings?

Perhaps the real question is why not sooner? Firstly, we are a team of keen boaters. Plus, we all have many years (decades in some instances) of experience within the world of marine engineering due to our personal interests and our proximity to the Manchester ship canal and several prominent marine engineering firms.

Consequently, we already had an extensive range of contacts, resources, and supplier/manufacturing relationships in place within this sector. Thus, it was a no-brainer for Leyton Fasteners to bring our outstanding friendly and professional service over to customers in the maritime sector.

Now, with Leyton Fasteners at your side, it’s going to be easier for you to find the right products for your projects and likely cheaper to boot.
What Types of Marine Fasteners and Fixings Do Leyton Fasteners Sell?

Are the Marine Fasteners Sold By Leyton Fasteners Resistant to Corrosion?

In short, yes. We source stainless steel products that can withstand the harshest environments, such as continuous saltwater exposure. For above-water fasteners, we suggest austenitic stainless steel grades 1.4401, 1.4404 and 1.4542. For below the waterline, we have marine fasteners with at least 6% Molybdenum in the alloy to provide enhanced protection and longevity.

Remember, the key to avoiding galvanic corrosion is keeping different fastener materials separate. Don’t make the mistake of using stainless steel and aluminium together, and that is a recipe for potentially catastrophic galvanic corrosion.
