Whilst not our normal “fare” we had a couple of interesting orders over the last week or so, that show the diverse nature of our business! Whilst most Fastener companies deal in standard fasteners, we decided, many years ago to keep our old stock and not sell it for scrap! As a result we’ve a stock room full of interesting and obsolete sizes, shapes, heads and threads…we also have access to similar suppliers and manufacturers, who will be as enthusiastic as we are about the fasteners you need.
Track and Wheel, period military vehicle engineers are restoring a 1943 Cromwell tank and needed some specific bolts for holding the armour plate to the tank. I’m told that tanks like these often are rusty hulks and have been used on firing ranges prior to restoration, so need a complete overhaul. Track and wheel needed countersunk heads, as exposed heads would be ripped off by the tank tracks running behind the double armour plate. We were able to source exact replacements for them.

Haynes Heritage contacted us about a specific bolt needed in some “running repairs” on a 1907 Rover. The customers were looking for an offside rear hub nut of specific length and thread again we were able to supply at reasonable cost. On chatting to Haynes Heritage, it seemed they had spent quite some time finding us, and gave Jack, our Technical expert, ten out of ten for enthusiasm and speed of response, something also noted by Track and Wheel.

Every day we field numerous requests for what is know in the trade as “specials”. Clearly these take time to track down and source, however, you will always find an enthusiastic response from our friendly, knowledgeable team. For your special requests or information, give us a call on 0151 355 8045 or sales@leytonfasteners.co.uk.
