Stainless Steel Marine Fasteners
Here at Leyton Fasteners, we guarantee that our stainless steel marine fasteners are corrosion resistant. The stainless-steel alloy that we use in our marine fasteners has been specifically manufactured so that, when exposed to harsh environments like the ocean, the fastener won’t rust.
Stainless steel bolts, screws, and nuts will provide you with the best possible long-term corrosion resistance. For above the water line, austenitic stainless steel grades 1.4401, 1.4404 and 1.4542 will be sufficient but for anything that is to be submerged you want at least 6% Molybdenum in the alloy.
We recommend that you do not couple steel marine fasteners with aluminium. This is as when stainless steel comes into contact with aluminium in the presence of an electrolyte saltwater a galvanic corrosion process starts. The best way to avoid this is to keep stainless steel with itself and it will literally last a lifetime.
