One of the things that often concern us here at Leyton Fasteners, are when we hear of folk refurbishing machines yet still re-using the old nuts, bolts and washers. When fasteners have been used for many years holding parts together, they can suffer from neglect, corrosion and stress, all of which can lead to failure. So, to be safe, when re-building or repairing, use fresh fasteners of the correct size, even when that means you’ll need to find the correct obsolete or imperial sizes.
We supply a number of customers such as farmers, garages, machine shops etc, all of whom are skilled in making things work, repairing machinery and keeping it going. As a result we are seeing increasing demand for the correct imperial or obsolete size, rather than “making do” with off the shelf metric sizes. We have bought cancelled orders of some sizes, particularly brass washers, to ensure we have stock on hand.
